2020-2021 Academic Year Rector’s Welcoming Message
It is a great pleasure for me to welcome you to Rauf Denktas University (RDU) and I congratulate you on making the right decision to join our student-centered, warm, and friendly University in the 2020-2021 academic year.
As you are getting ready to start your new life at RDU, considering the new circumstances imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been working hard to provide you the best possible academic experience. We are well aware of the fact that some countries are applying restrictive policies that may affect the easy access to our country, North Cyprus, adversely.
In response to this, RDU implanted a new policy, “learn as you wish” that provided the opportunity for its students either to have face to face or online education at the same time. Those students who may not be able to come to Cyprus will have their courses online. Furthermore, if a student cannot come to Cyprus for any reason for face to face education and also cannot have access to the internet for online courses, his rights will be reserved and he will be able to continue his education in the next term or next academic year.
One other policy introduced by RDU is to enable students to “register” to our University online. Given the new challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic in traveling and the new online teaching method, students will be able to register to our University online. After receiving the conditional letter from our International Office, paying the tuition fee, and getting the acceptance letter, a student will be guided by the International Office to enroll at our University online (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Students registering to our University, if they provide the required documents (IELTS/TOEFL Certificates, etc.) proving their fulfillment of the required level of proficiency in the English language they will proceed directly to register to the first year of their program; otherwise they will be directed to the Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School where they will take the English Proficiency Examination either face to face or online. The result of this examination will determine whether the student will study at the English Preparatory School or the Program.
I would like to share with you one of the latest achievements of our University. Being already recognized by the competent educational authorities in North Cyprus, RDU is now reviewed and also recognized by the Higher Education Council (YOK) of Turkey. This is another assurance of the quality of education provided by RDU ensuring the international recognition of the degrees granted by our University.
I congratulate you once again on the right decision you have made. I would also like to remind you that RDU aims at providing all its students with quality education through specially designed curricula graduating students with the required attributes for international employment.
