About the University
Rauf Denktaş University (RDU) was established in 2015 in Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, to honor the legacy and vision of the late Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş. The University has been approved by the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK) and is recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) of the Republic of Türkiye.
Since its establishment, RDU has aimed to provide education at international standards, guided by contemporary scientific principles and universal values. The University’s mission is to educate students to become innovative, ethical, research-oriented individuals who can compete confidently in a global environment.
The medium of instruction at RDU is both English and Turkish, enabling students to build academic proficiency in more than one language while engaging in a vibrant multicultural campus. Founded upon the principles of freedom, democracy, and justice championed by Rauf Raif Denktaş, the University continues to advance with a strong academic staff, student-centered approach, and research-driven vision toward becoming a distinguished institution regionally and internationally.
What Makes RDU Special
The medium of instruction is English (except Turkish Law); courses follow the American Credit System and ECTS; strong student life and societies; focused on international employability and market-relevant curricula.
English Medium of Instruction
Except for Turkish Law, instruction is in English. The English Preparatory Program supports students who need to improve their English; foundation classes are available in mathematics and computer skills; students are introduced to Turkish history, culture and language.
Rigorous National & International Accreditation
Programs are accredited by TRNC Ministry of Education and Culture and YODAK, recognized by Turkey’s YÖK, and externally by FIBAA (Germany).
American Credit System & ECTS
Courses follow the American Credit System and its equivalent, the European Credit and Transfer System (ECTS).
